Hippophile Farm was established over 15 years ago on the shores of Lake Superior . It is a first rate equestrian facility located on Madeline Island. La Pointe, WI. We offer top notch boarding, training and riding instruction for the beginner through the advanced rider in dressage and jumping. During the summer months we offer our Summer Kids Horse Camp. and various clinicians for riders interested in dressage and jumping.
I came to Madeline Island over 20 years ago, with my now husband. We established the facility from scratch, keeping in mind the importance of a well planned training facility. The farm boasts an attached indoor arena 70X 184 with sand/rubber footing, large 100 X 200 outdoor sand arena, large mowed grass field for schooling, and trails for your enjoyment. Horses have it made in large pastures with 2-3 horses per group, or individual turnout
My background in horsemanship goes back 25 years. I have worked extensively over the years with Master instructor Cyril Pittion-Rossillon owner of Palm Partnership Training in Ocala, FL. In 2006 I was awarded status as a Bronze Level Affiliate of Palm Partnership Training, under the guidance of Lynn Palm and Cyril Pittion-Rossillon. Since then I have competed /trained in hunters, worked with several jumpers and competed in USDF competition. I have owned/ trained or competed in all 3 disciplines and attribute my success to being taught with Classical Dressage principles. I carry that knowledge into both training and instruction and focus on not only correct rider position and biomechanics, but also on creating a happy willing horse who enjoys there training. I have set up the facility to be able to take advantage of hacking down the roads, riding in the fields, or working in the indoor or outdoor arenas. I have found that the best way to have a happy horse is to always give them variety in there training. At Hippophile Farm it is my mission to pass on well founded principles of horsemanship, using the methods of dressage. for whatever the students goals may be, whatever the riding discipline.
It is my belief that the experience and knowledge we have gained for ourselves is nothing if we don’t pass it along. By sharing my experience through instructing students & training horses I hope to help make the world a better place, especially for our equine friends. Horses have been my best teachers, and without them I would have never learned the art of patience.
